You’ve likely heard it said that former President Donald Trump is a callous and heartless soul. According to the political left, he’s out for himself and himself only. He says rude things, he’s racist, he’s sexist. And above all, he incites violence and hatred.
Also, according to the left, they just got more proof of all of that.
As you know, our nation has suffered another major loss, thanks to the perpetrator of a school shooting that took place in Uvalde, Texas. Innocent lives were destroyed, and families forever changed.
And yet, just days afterward, Donald Trump and quite a few other GOP politicians and high-ranking officials, such as Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Texas Senator Ted Cruz, gathered together in Houston for an annual National Rifle Association convention. Several on the left surmised that the act was “beyond despicable” and only proved to show how uncaring and cruel these GOP members are.
However, let me explain why their insistence on attending such an event was exactly the opposite.
For starters, it’s not like these men and women called each other up just minutes after the shooting and decided to plan an event. This had been in the works for months now.
But don’t take their willingness to go through with it despite the tragedy as callousness. Instead, they all used it as an opportunity to have real conversations about gun safety and what can be done to help prevent such crimes from happening in our future.
Trump explained this on his new Truth Social account.
He wrote, “America needs real solutions and real leadership in this moment, not politicians and partisanship. That’s why I will keep my longtime commitment to speak in Texas at the NRA Convention and deliver an important address to America. IN the meantime, we all continue to pray for the victims, their families, and for our entire nation – we are all in this together.”
Unlike Biden and his cronies, who are using this tragedy as another excuse to try and push the same old anti-Second Amendment laws into place. Trump, Abbott, Cruz, and others are going to take moments like this and make sure that America is having real conversations about guns and how they are used in our nation.
Rather than just throwing up a blanket statement about making firearms more restricted in the hands of the public, something that study after study and state after state has proved to make our populations more vulnerable, not less, Trump is actually sitting down with those who understand firearms the best and, therefore, know how best to make sure they are used for good and not evil.
On the other hand, Biden continues to make statements like “we need to ban AR-14s.” Just to let you in on a little secret, there is no such thing as an AR-14. He also doesn’t seem to understand the concept behind things like bump stocks, magazines versus clips, and all sorts of other gun-related issues that he wants to make laws about. And neither do half of the people who work for him.
Neither does he apparently understand that Americans have guns in the first place because of our Constitution, written so many years ago by men who understood the need for self-defense, even against one’s own government. Instead, as he suggested in a speech given on Tuesday, no doubt meant to further push the idea of gun control, he claimed that the gun lobby gave Americans their guns and the rights to those…
Talk about someone being tone-deaf and “unfit for leadership of this country,” as Fox News host Tucker Carlson said of him.
Basically, Biden’s just saying what he thinks we want to hear. The fact of the matter is that it’s really only what those in the party want. The rest of us understand that guns are not the problem. If they were, texting while driving wouldn’t be killing more American teens than guns on a daily basis.
Thank God that some of our national leaders understand the truth and are willing to stick to their guns…
