President Joe Biden is known for saying some outlandish things. From his inability to read the right numbers to his lack of experience on topics he loves to preach about, he cannot help but make a fool out of himself at nearly every turn. His efforts to make it look like we don’t know what is happening in the world is nothing short of maddening.
Speaking with reporters on Memorial Day, he took advantage of the camera time to push further rhetoric to the media and in turn the American people. “The 22-caliber bullet will lodge in the lungs, and we can get it out. A 9 mm bullet blows the lung out of the body.” The problem with this statement is it is factually untrue all the way around.
For starters, the .22 is a round beloved by the mafia for executions. The round could enter the body and bounce around off bone, but it lacks the energy to re-exit the body when shot precisely. It’s not designed to be effective on larger targets, and it’s not the choice for much beyond basic target shooting or varmints for this reason.
A 9mm, on the other hand, can bounce around, but often has more than enough energy to leave the body. It doesn’t take the lungs or any other organ out with it. It’s not like a claw, pulling out body parts. This makes it useful for target practice as the ammo is usually easily found, and it is reliable against a larger force.
Biden’s quips are falling in line with his love of talking about the 9mm for self-defense. He has periodically referred to it when talking about gun violence, often in the same breath, he uses the imaginary term “assault weapons,” too. This ignorance is palpable, and it only serves to further polarize the country on the issue. Those who know enough about firearms to speak out against his claims are often labeled as gun nuts, and people refuse to listen to them. Meanwhile, the mindless leftist drones will continue to parrot his statements as if they are fact.
His remarks haven’t been just limited to the caliber of bullets. During a CNN Town Hall on July 21, 2021, he said, “The idea you need a weapon that can have the ability to fire 20, 30, 40, 50, 120 shots from that weapon, whether it’s a 9mm pistol or whether it’s a rifle, is ridiculous. I’m continuing to push to eliminate the sale of those things.” This push to eliminate higher capacity magazines is another subject Biden knows nothing about.
These higher count magazines make carrying or firing incredibly more difficult. Especially a pistol as it changes the weight, dynamics, and handling of the firearm. They are nothing more than a tool to assist with target practice and training for scenarios. The misuse of them by people seeking to cause destruction does not make them inherently evil.
It’s much like the people misusing high-end car parts to speed around illegally are the problems in high-speed accidents, not the car themselves. Or an angry person putting Visine in someone’s drink to poison them. It’s not the tool that is the problem, it’s the person using it and their problems. The more Biden pushes the American people away from the idea of personal responsibility, the weaker we become as a nation.
We have known for decades now that there is a mental health problem across the globe, but especially here in America. Stigmas for seeking mental health treatment, misuse of prescription drugs for off-label uses, and poor home environments are large contributing factors. Social media and the effects it can have on the brain are also factors largely ignored by the media and the administration. Until we as a nation help tackle these, the Biden misinformation will continue to spread, and your second amendment rights will continue to be attacked.
