And It’s On…Newsom Challenges DeSantis

Florida and California are like oil and water. It’s the perfect contrast of politics in the United States – and it often pits Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a Republican, against California Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat.

When Florida was enjoying the ability to choose and go maskless during COVID, California was in a tight lockdown. When Florida banned abortions past the 24-week mark, California decided to build an abortion tourism industry.

To say that the two governors are butting heads on how to rule their respective states is an understatement. Typically, though, they’ve managed to respect each other’s borders. That’s not the case any longer.

Gavin Newsom has decided that he’s going to run for president in 2024. It’s a little early to make this announcement, but he has a lot of work to do. After all, he has to prove that he’s more than just progressive agendas and hair gel.

In typical liberal fashion, he’s decided to ignore his own state. Instead, he’s targeting Florida and, more specifically, Run DeSantis. This is because he assumes that DeSantis will be running for president, too, and will be his greatest competition.

DeSantis has not come forward to say that he will run. However, many are assuming that he’ll run because of all of the amazing work that he’s done for the state of Florida. Many even outside of Florida have said that they’d throw their support behind the Republican. Even Elon Musk has said that he’ll provide financial support to the Floridian.

Newsom isn’t taking any chances that DeSantis will get the leg up on him, so he’s already invested in a cable ad buy – in Florida of all places.

This is a bit ridiculous considering Newsom should be focusing on his re-election campaign for governor before even thinking about the presidential election. The problem is that Newsom suffers from a massive ego – and the recent recall only helped him feel as though he’s untouchable. After all, once there were enough votes to get a recall out on Newsom, Californians turned around and put him right back into office.

Now, if you read the interview in the San Francisco Chronicle last month, you might be a bit confused by this move. He said that he had “subzero interest” in running for president in 2024.

Apparently, he’s changed his mind because he wants to take down Ron DeSantis. And he obviously feels as though Biden doesn’t stand a chance in hell of making this happen. So, he’ll do what he has to in order to be the hero of the Democratic Party.

This is all because of Newsom’s hero complex, which he has suffered from for years. Perhaps all of that hair gel has seeped into his brain cells.

What hadn’t even been on his radar last month now has him spending money on ads that will air across Florida beginning on July 4.

He can say all that he wants about what he could do for the American people. The reality is that no one wants what Newsom has to offer.

We all remember what happened in 2020 when businesses closed, and students were kept out of schools. We’ve seen the homelessness overwhelm the streets of LA and San Francisco. And we’ve seen how fires have swept through the state all because he doesn’t know where to spend money effectively.

At this point, we’re waiting for DeSantis to go all in and make his announcement that he’ll be running in 2024. Doesn’t he have to now? He has to protect us from the possibility of not only Biden staying in the White House for another four years but also from the slim possibility that Governor Newsom could become the next president.

C’mon, DeSantis. It’s all on you.
