Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is toying with the idea of a 2024 run for the White House. Much like other potential candidates, he’s not too concerned with President Trump already officially declaring his candidacy. After serving as Trump’s Secretary of State, he has a special insight into Trump, and his policies are incredibly similar.
Pompeo is also eager to change the way Americans are looking at their lot in life. “I served in the administration, I’m proud of the policies we laid out. We need more seriousness, we need less noise, we need steady hands, we need leaders that are looking forward, not staring in the rearview mirror claiming victimhood.”
While many potential Republican candidates want to put the country back into an era of self-responsibility, not many are willing to push this message as directly and bluntly as Pompeo. A message nearly every American can stand behind, Pompeo already has carved out a solid ledge to stand on as a candidate.
Serving as Secretary of State, Pompeo made minimal concessions to Democrats and was able to convince many to come around to the right side with their votes and feelings. This kind of bipartisan support is something any candidate would benefit greatly from in 2024, and Pompeo is in a unique position to take the White House with clear support from many groups not normally supporting Republicans.
Here are a few things that stand out on Pompeo’s resume:
- Captain in the US Army
- Attended Harvard University
- Served as a US Representative from Kansas
- Served as a director of the CIA
- Served as Secretary of State
Short of Fl Governor Ron DeSantis, Pompeo represents some of the best experiences of potential candidates this early in the race.
