Earlier this month, 26-year-old Dineshia Yates left her daughter, Blessing Buckles, in the care of  26-year-old Terica Scott’s kids. With eight kids left home alone so Yates and Scott could hit the casino, they showed a total lack of parenting skills. Records indicate the duo had lived together for weeks and taken off often. Of the kids, two of Scott’s boys, a 10-year-old and a 12-year-old, had shown a major predisposition to violence, just like their mama.

Around 3:45 p.m. that afternoon, police responded to a 911 call from their residence on O’Neal Lane. Seeing the eight kids ranging in age from 11 months to 12 years, officers quickly assessed the situation. 3-year-old Blessing was down and out from blunt force trauma. Suffering from a brain bleed, bruises, and severe abrasions to her face and body, this was no accident. Passing away two days later on the 14th, the child held on as long as she could.

Per arrest records, the two juveniles were booked into the EBR Juvenile Detention Center for simple battery and second-degree murder. As both ladies failed these children and knew of the violent streak, they were also booked and charged. Scott was charged with principal to second-degree murder and principal to battery, while Yates was charged with principal to second-degree murder and principal to simple battery.

For poor Blessing, their conviction and justice cannot come swiftly enough. While arrest records indicate a pattern of behavior from Scott and Yates, with Yates already facing burglary charges and Scott beating a murder rap in 2021, both these ladies show poor choices in judgment. Hopefully, the other five kids who weren’t involved in this crime, can learn and get the proper upbringing their other two siblings didn’t and that parents failed on.
